Online Big Stakes Poker- Who is Gus Hansen?

Gus Hansen enjoyed a marvelous year on the World Poker Tour where he was the only player to make it to the final poker table in 3 of the events. Gus Hansen has been seen on High Stakes Poker on The Game Show Network where he bought into the game for $400, 000. You may remember one of the biggest pots in high stakes poker history up against Daniel Negreanu. Hansen raked in a large pot with 4 of a kind against Daniel’s full house. Hansen has earned many tv poker appearances and is considered to be one of the strongest gamblers anywhere in the world. While playing net poker, a different side of Hansen has appeared. He often participates in the 200/400 NL maximum buy-in of Forty Thousand dollars. Hansen frequently buys-in for the minimum of Sixteen Thousand dollars and plays very poorly. He waits patiently for a good hand and then pushes all in. I believe Gus is an excellent poker player but not even close to the regular players at 200/400NL. Unless Gus is penniless, he has little or no reason to sit at the game with the min buy in.

Playing for the min takes most of the skill out of big stack poker. Gus is supposed to be one of the best players anywhere in the world but he can’t buy-in for the full amount. I believe tv can skew our view of the real world every now and then. The greatest poker players anywhere in the world might be players you have never heard of before. Gus can be seen participating in online poker on Full Tilt. He usually participates in big stakes omaha hold’em and hold’em. Gus has shown himself as a competition player. Can he use his abilities in money rounds?
