Gus Hansen enjoyed an amazing year on the WPT where he was the only one to make it to the closing table in three of the competitions. Gus Hansen has appeared on High Stakes Poker on The Game Show Network where he bought into the game for $400, 000. You might recall one of the largest pots in high stakes poker recorded history up against Daniel Negreanu. Gus raked in a large pot with 4 of a kind against Negreanu’s full house. Hansen has earned many televised poker appearances and is considered to be one of the best bettors anywhere in the world. While gambling on internet poker, a different side of Hansen has been seen. He regularly competes in the 200/400 NL max buy-in of Forty Thousand dollars. Hansen more often than not buys in for the min of Sixteen Thousand dollars and gambles very weak. He waits for a decent hand and then pushes all-in. I believe Gus is a great poker player but certainly not even close to the everyday players at 200/400no limit. Unless he is penniless, he has no reason to play at the game with the minimum buy-in.

Playing for the minimum takes almost all of the expertise out of big stack poker. Hansen is assumed to be 1 of the best poker players anywhere in the world but he cannot buy-in for the total amount. I think television can skew our view of the real world at times. The best players anywhere in the world might be guys you have never heard of. Gus can be seen gambling on online poker on Full Tilt. He commonly plays in high stakes omaha eight-or-better and texas holdem. Gus Hansen has shown himself as a tournament player. Can he use his talents in money rounds?
