Online High Stakes Poker- Who is Gus Hansen?

Gus Hansen had a marvelous year on the WPT where he was the only participant to make it to the last poker table in three of the competitions. Gus Hansen has appeared on High Stakes Poker on The Game Show Network where he paid $400, 000 to play. You may remember one of the biggest pots in big stakes poker history up against Daniel Negreanu. Gus raked in a huge pot with quads against Negreanu’s full house. Hansen has made many tv poker appearances and is deemed to be one of the strongest players anywhere in the world. While betting on web poker, a different side of Hansen has appeared. Gus regularly competes in the 200/400 NL max buy-in of $40, 000. Hansen more often than not buys in for the minimum of Sixteen Thousand dollars and plays very poorly. He waits patiently for a decent hand and then goes all in. I know Gus is an amazing poker player but certainly not even close to the everyday players at 200/400NL. Unless Gus is bankrupt, he has no reason to sit at the table with the min buy in.

Buying in for the minimum takes a majority of the ability out of deep stack poker. Gus is presumed to be 1 of the greatest players in the world but he cannot buy-in for the total amt.. I think tv can alter our perception of the real world every now and then. The best poker players in the world might just be guys you have won’t have heard about. Gus can be found gambling on net poker on Full Tilt. He generally plays in high stakes omaha/8 and texas holdem. Gus has proven himself as a tournament player. Can he use his talents in cash rounds?
