The Importance of Poker Position

Texas Hold’em is all about gamblers and position. All rounded Texas Holdem enthusiasts agree that seating in no boundary Texas Hold’em is fundamentally important. Playing your hole cards in last position might be much more beneficial than in starting poker spot. This is because much more data is amassed right before acting.

e.g., I played in a $1-$2 no limit money game at a local poker room. I bumbled in with 2, 9 unsuited on the dealer marker, so I could see a little fun. Flop came down A-A-4. A bettor in early spot placed a $15 wager. Two players fold and it was now my turn. I should have dropped out, but something felt a little odd. I ID’d this individual as a weak-tight person, and typically if he held the strongest hand he would just check, so I called.

The turn came down with a 7, meaning it was a A-A-4-7. My challenger laid another wager of $20. I hesitated a little bit, but made a decision to re-raise a further $30thirty dollars over and above his $20. He dropped out and I take the pot.

Betting at last position gives you an idea where you are positioned by seeing how entrants react and wager. On the flip side, individuals at starting position can use their poker spot to check-raise the late positioned aggressors and trap them afterwords at the end. In Texas Hold’em, both spots, late and early should be played cautiously.
